The ADAC Mobility Test Center (TZM) in Penzing, Germany, is a state-of-the-art testing and development track designed primarily for the automotive industry, suppliers, and the ADAC itself, while also being open to other stakeholders in the mobility sector.
The site, originally a military airfield, has been adapted to the requirements of modern testing and validation processes. It provides a platform for developing innovative technologies, particularly for driver assistance systems, automated emergency functions and semi- and fully autonomous driving technologies (SAE Levels 3–5).
The test track includes seven specialized modules that simulate realistic traffic conditions, such as highway scenarios, rural roads and urban geometries. The test areas are precisely designed with minimal gradients to ensure accurate conditions for consumption and comfort tests, roll-out tests and the validation of legal standards.
A key focus is on consumer protection and road safety. The tests aim to optimize the technical reliability and safety of vehicles, contributing to a higher level of safety in public traffic. The facility also supports presentations such as film shoots, product launches or technical demonstrations.
By realistically simulating public road environments and enabling the safe reproduction of critical traffic situations, the TZM offers a globally unique approach to comprehensively testing and advancing driver assistance systems and autonomous driving functions.
