In 2018, Tilke was commissioned to design a masterplan for a test and racetrack in Notodden, Norway.
The local community anticipated that the project would boost motorsport in Norway and enhance the training of young drivers through a road training center. The project held significant social value for the local population, and it was hoped that it would create numerous new jobs.
The design included a track approx. 3 kilometers long, featuring flexible configurations enabled by various shortcuts. Additionally, the design incorporated a road training and testing center, a racing school and drift tracks. The facility combined the passion of motorsport activities, testing new vehicle technologies and offered possibilities to develop new concepts of mobility, including autonomous driving. The latest safety standards were integrated in the track and the testing center, while the environmental impact was reduced to a minimum.
