Until 2009 a modern and impressive Formula 1 race track, the Yas Marina Circuit, was built on Yas Island about 30 kilometers east of Abu Dhabi’s city center.
The circuit with a length of 5.55 kilometers is composed of 21 turns and a 1.2-kilometer high-speed straight. It can be divided into two sections by shortcuts, allowing various motorsport events to take place simultaneously all year-round. Grandstands and VIP lounges around the circuit offer the possibility to seat 41,000 spectators.
Since 2009, the race at the Yas Marina Circuit has been the spectacular finale of the Formula 1 racing calendar. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix takes place at dawn and ends after sunset, with illuminated, outstanding architecture around the circuit.
