The competition project „Foro Italico“ in Rome, Italy, aimed to modernize and upgrade the existing tennis stadium on the former Olympic site.
Primarily part of the design was a new façade and a flexible roof construction. The structure of the tennis stadium was modernized, but its basic elements were retained.
Our design included a new structure around the functional body of the stadium, with radial wall panels supporting the roof in an arched movement. The tiers and upper levels of the stadium were clad with a shimmering, golden and translucent mesh facade. An upgrade of the landscaping around the stadium was also part of the competition. The result is a modern interpretation of Roman cultural buildings that blends perfectly with the surroundings of the former Olympic site.
