INTERCITY ISTANBUL PARK
ISTANBUL, TURKEY
Completed in 2005, the “Istanbul Park” Formula 1 racetrack is located on the Asian side of Istanbul about 80 kilometers east of the old city. With a length of 5.3 kilometers the circuit includes a total of 14 turns.
The varying topographical potential was used to develop a challenging racetrack with many highlights for drivers and spectators. Frequent left-right corner combinations are characteristic of this racetrack. The composition of several alternately aligned turns into a connected sequence, guarantees a challenging driving experience. The turns can be taken at a high speed of up to 200 km/h. The track’s top speed of 326 km/h is reached on the long straight.
From 2005 to 2011, the Istanbul Park Racetrack was part of the Formula 1 racing calendar. Since then it has been used for several touring car races, MotoGP races, the FIA World Rallycross Championships and in 2013 for the World Superbikes.
On November 15, 2020, the Istanbul Park circuit hosted the Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix for the first time since 2011.
The racetrack area, which covers a total of 2.1 square kilometers, has a spectator capacity of up to 155,000 people. The main grandstand, located opposite the pit building, has 25,000 covered seats. Further the VIP towers at each end of the pit lane can host 5,000 spectators. The remaining 125,000 visitors will be accommodated on temporary grandstands around the track.
