Hermann Tilke is the founder and Managing Partner of the Tilke Company and is widely recognized as the world’s leading racetrack designer. As a civil engineer and former professional racing driver, he combines technical expertise with a deep understanding of motorsport, bringing both precision and passion to every project.
Since founding the company in 1983, Hermann has assembled a highly skilled team, building Tilke into the global leader in racetrack design and motorsport architecture. His early international projects quickly established the company’s reputation, including the A1 Ring (now Red Bull Ring) in Austria, the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, the Shanghai International Circuit, the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, the Bahrain International Circuit, the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and many more.
Over the past decades, Hermann has overseen the planning and delivery of more than 30 Formula 1 circuits, alongside numerous MotoGP, test, and private club racetracks around the world. Some of his most recent projects include the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, the Lusail International Circuit, and the Las Vegas Strip Circuit.
Beyond his work on circuits, Hermann is the founder of the Motorsport Club of Clubs, a global initiative connecting private club racetracks and fostering an international motorsport community. Through this platform, he has helped create a network that brings together enthusiasts, track operators, and professionals, promoting collaboration and the exchange of knowledge across the globe.
Hermann has been leading the company for over 40 years and, since 2015, has been joined by his son, Dr. Carsten Tilke, as Managing Partner. Together, they continue to shape the landscape of modern motorsport, blending innovation, experience, and vision to create circuits that inspire drivers and captivate spectators.
